In this era, many people like to compete with themselves. Taking me for example, I used to feel fat and dislike myself. Every summer, when I see slim girls wear their tight little skirt, to be honest, I am quite envious. So I tried to lose weight, in an extreme way: on diet. Even if I’m starving, I still do not eat anything and do exercises. This totally wrong way caused my mood to be rather depressed, and then I suddenly realized—It’s a waste of youth! Life is so short! There's really no need to compete with myself. In terms, that's called as "self-sabotage". I told myself ,"If you can't do it, just let it go, and let yourself go." Although I'm not so thin, at least I' m not upset.
Then I suppose the classmates and friends around me have the same case. Some people will be depressed because test results are not ideal; Some people are very anxious to find a job with a monthly salary of more than ten thousand when they just graduate; Some hardly want to get a perfect partner when they just fall in love. But when none of this was possible, they felt their lives were so bitter! Finally, this kind of case made me understand that the greatest enemy of us in life is actually ourselves.
Moreover, I try to further consider this topic. I can't help thinking about the growth of our generation. We live in kinds of comparing, and see it as a normal thing. We believe only good results in study means success in future! We reckon only with struggle can we live a better life! We're used to all kinds of unrealistic comparing! We compare our grades at school, compare our incomes at work, and even compare our boyfriends or girlfriends in life. For all this, we lost the innocence we should have in growing up and the joy we should have in life!
At last, I would like to end the speech with a metaphorical sentence. In your life, don't be like the bull in the Spanish bullfight, the bull rushes forward blindly as soon as it sees the red cloth, and the result is basically bad for itself, even if there are cheers and applause around. Remember, stop self-sabotage! Thanks for you listening.
